Linlithgow Thistle 4 v 2 Edinburgh Rose
Scorers: Lacki, Hesketh (2), Stevenson
LEAFA, Premier 2 Division
21st January 2012, Kettil'stoun Mains
Thistle won their first league game of the campaign with a convincing victory over the Rose. It took several attempts and a few missed chances before Thistle got their just rewards, with Lacki starting proceedings by striking from distance. Having been pegged back to equal terms, the break came at the best time for Thistle to regroup and make the necessary tactical and personnel changes. From the restart, the home side dominated. Hesketh blasted home from around 35 yards, before increasing the lead with a bullet header from a freekick. The tie was concluded with a Stevenson tap-in after great team interplay, following Rose's disappointing consolation, but the local lads were never threatened, particularly reinforced by another solid Bruce display in goals. It is anticipated that this victory over mid-table Rose will act as a catalyst in Thistle's quest for league survival.
** Burns Night **
Linlithgow Thistle staged their first irreverent Burn's Night on 21st January 2012 at the Black Bitch (upstairs function room). Following a toast to the Bard and a serving of the tradional fayre, guests were entertained by hilarious after dinner speaker and SPL referee, Charlie Richmond.
It was a fantastic event and one enjoyed by all. Special thanks to The Black Bitch (Jimmy and Kathy) for their hospitality, Oliphants for the delicious food, Cameron Millar for his excellent piping, Graham Chambers for his splendid Address to the Haggis, and everyone in attendance for coming along to support the club.

**Sportsman's Dinner 2011**
Linlithgow Thistle hosted their second annual Sportsman's Dinner on 22nd October at Bo'ness Town Hall. Entertaining the 200 guests were the impressive speakers Bill Barclay, Joe Camay and Donald Findlay QC. Kinneil Youth Band warmed the audience up with a superb repertoire of songs.
Following the meal, guests participated in a Red Card / Yellow Card football trivia game, with the winner picking up a bumper £150 cash prize before enjoying the comedy on offer from the comedians.
Bill Barclay provided corny humour, delivered in comedic fashion, that the older guests found particularly entertaining. Next up was the utterly fantastic and blue Joe Camay, who single handedly blew the roof off the Town Hall. Donald Findlay's eclectic mix of humour and anecdotes finished the evening in inspirational form.
Among the impressive Auction items sold at the end of the night were a signed Pele Brazil jersey, a signed David Beckham Real Madrid jersey, a signed Cristiano Ronaldo Real Madrid jersey, a signed Henrik Larsson Celtic jersey, a signed Barry Ferguson UEFA Cup Final Rangers jersey and a Duncan Ferguson signed 1995 FA Cup Final Everton jersey.
A Prize Raffle draw concluded the event, with Councillor Tom Conn picking up the Madrid trip for 2 (flights, accommodation and match tickets for the Real Madrid v Real Sociedad La Liga fixture to be held in March 2012).
Linlithgow Thistle wish to express their sincere gratitude to existing and new club sponsors for making the evening such a success: Hunters of Linlithgow, MS Joinery, The Black Bitch and D&J Sibbald, Alchemy Inns, Thompsons Solicitors and The Crown (Bo'ness). As per the event programme, and with the highest auction bid of the evening being made by D&J Sibbald, the new home strip of Linlithgow Thistle will be decorated with their company logo as a token of the club's appreciation.
As a token of the club's gratitude, the sponsors have been invited to enjoy hospitality before and after the club's 3rd Round Scottish Amateur Cup clash on 5th November. A lunch at Livingston's Restaurant will precede the game, with drinks and sandwiches being provided at The Black Bitch following the tie.
